Our love for sugar drinks is getting dangerous!
Let’s face it; we’ve all had our share of sugary drinks. Whether you
love to have a coke
with your lunch,
a sports drink after a workout, or
giant lemonade at the state fair, we are
all guilty of indulging in
drinks that are not healthy options. Not to say that we all consume
these on a regular basis, maybe at one point in our lives we did, but if
we ever look at the
calorie and sugar contents on some of the
beverages, we may wish that we hadn’t.
Furthermore, studies show that
high consumption of sugar drinks is one of the major
contributors to
obesity in America.
The link between sugar drinks and obesity is so bad that, on January
14th, Coca-Cola,
the world’s largest
beverage company, is now launching a
campaign to help promote
awareness of the calorie and sugar content in
its beverages to help with the obesity epidemic.
It’s also reducing the
amount of unhealthy drinks offered in vending machines in schools in
order to reduce the amount of sugar drinks consumed by children. A
typical 20-ounce soda
contains 15 to 18 teaspoons of sugar and upwards
of 240 calories. A 64-ounce fountain cola
drink could have up to 700
calories. That is an astounding amount of sugar and calories in
one
beverage, and
what’s worse about cola beverages, is they do not provide
any sort of
nutrients.
However, soda beverages aren’t the only problem. Many fruit drinks,
energy drinks, and
sports beverages
are also loaded with lots of sugar.
We may think we’re making a better
choice by going for a fruit juice instead of a cola, but what you may not know is that many
of these
drinks still contain high amounts of sugar and are not always filled
with just fruits
and vegetables. And while a refreshing sports drink
tastes great after a long run or workout,
make sure all your hard work
didn’t just go to waste by drinking the calories you just
worked hard to
burn off!
It’s important to read the nutrition label of any drink you’re about
to consume. If you are
consuming a fruit,
sports, or energy drink, make
sure it provides more benefits than loss.
A great option is Youngevity’s Rebound fx™ Citrus Punch which supplies quick sustained
energy while
offering a balance of antioxidants, natural herbs, and the minerals that
must
be replenished in order for the body to function at optimal
levels!
With only 36 calories per serving and 8.5gram of sugar, which is
less than half of a
leading sports drink,
Rebound fx™ is perfect for
anybody who is in need of a refreshing
drink, energy booster, or post
workout beverage; and as Dr. Wallach says, exercise
without proper
supplementation is suicide!
Remember, making healthy choices is the key to preventing obesity even when it comes
to drinks!
Until next week,
Best Wishes for Ultimate Health and Majestic Dreams!
